Buying Muay Thai gear in Bangkok

If you’re in Bangkok and wanting to buy some new Muay Thai gear you’ll no doubt find plenty of places to buy them. But it’s always a matter of price and quality. You could go to Lumpinee and Rajadamnern stadiums and buy equipment from the shops there or try to find the brand names shop e.g. Boon, Twins, Top King, Fairtex etc.

So far the best thing on the internet I’ve found to help you find places to shop is the Buying Muay Thai Gear/Equipment section on the Muay Thai Training Camps website. If anyone knows of any other places that give you good prices then please let me know.

They have guides to the ActionZone martial arts shop and Boon shop with maps, pictures and directions and (for Boon) price lists.

ActionZone

I highly recommend ActionZone. They’re close to the MBK shopping centre and National Stadium BTS and only about a 1km straight walk (no confusing turns). There’s an old lady in there and a girl that speaks a little bit of English. If you’re buying a lot of stuff the old lady will even give you some water for free.

They stock most the name brands: Twins, Top King, Thaismai some Tae Kwon Do (pshhh) and they can custom make shorts for you. Everything’s pretty cheap at least half the price of what I’d pay back home so I’d be happy to pay full price in the shop BUT don’t be scared to ask for a discount and you could save yourself a few hundred baht.

This is the stuff I bought the two times I’ve been there and all of it added up to around AU$300. A bargain if you ask me because just a headguard, gloves and shinpads would cost that much if I bought them back home. The gloves were 1000 baht (AU$33) and headgear 1100 baht (AU$36).

I’d love to go check out the Boon store but it’s a bit further out and I don’t think I’ll have any time to go there on this visit. Also if anyone has bought/used their gear I’d like to know your opinions on it.
