Cauliflower Ear 3.0

So I managed to get myself a bit cauliflower ear again. This time it’s making its way towards the centre of my right ear now.

My poor right ear :(

It started as a sore bruised bit on the bottom of the top part of my ear. But after a culmination of constant training for a couple weeks without an earguard (cause I’ve lost my old one) AND a gi choke, that squished my ear to pieces from coach, it just blew up again.

I have drained it a couple times now. But as always it seems to fill itself back up in the day. It’s also really hard to get some ice in on that area to help make the swelling go down.

On the plus side I got my new Brute Quad III earguards last week and they’ve been working like a treat. They feel a little tight on the chin, but that may be because I haven’t worn an earguard in a while. I’ll write a review on them later.

Saviour! My new Brute earguards

If you’re wondering on how to drain your cauliflower ear here’s a tutorial video I posted up a couple years ago when I first got cauliflower training BJJ in Brazil (Wow it has been that long!) You can also clearly see the difference between my Right ear then (in the video) and now (in the top picture).

Hmmm I think it may also be time to do an updated version of How to drain your cauliflower ear video.

The cauli is slowly starting to heal up now and I’m grateful for the new earguards, but I should have been smart and bought them early as prevention is the best cure.

Oh well at least the ugliness is getting even on both sides of my head now hahaha :)
